It opens with your reading year: goals for books, pages, new authors, poetry and classics, genres to try, and a shelf of 52 numbered spines to color as you finish each book. Then a reading-challenge bingo card with 24 prompts and a free square (a poetry collection, a book older than 100 years, set somewhere you’ve never been, one you put off for years and more), two to-be-read pages, and a 52-week reading log over three pages with the date each week begins.
Each month gets a wrap-up page: a small calendar of the month to color the days you read, the month in numbers (books finished, pages, days read, hours), the books you finished with five stars to color for each, a favorite of the month and a line you keep thinking about. Eight book-review pages follow, each with title, author, started and finished, a star rating, print, ebook or audio, a sentence, what you thought, a line to keep and who you would give it to. Then a did-not-finish list, two pages of quotes with room for the source and page, a series tracker for six series of up to ten books, and your year in books.
Includes 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030 editions and an undated edition, and every one comes in a Sunday-start and a Monday-start version. The dated editions print each week’s start date in the 52-week log and the dates in every monthly calendar; the undated edition leaves them to fill in. The Sunday-start and Monday-start versions differ in the monthly calendars and the 52-week dates.
You get 30 print-ready PDFs of 33 pages each, one for every year, week start and paper size: US Letter (8.5 x 11 in, 216 x 279 mm), A4 (8.3 x 11.7 in, 210 x 297 mm) and half letter (5.5 x 8.5 in, 140 x 216 mm). Files are named by year, week start and size, for example reading-journal-2027_2027_sun_letter.pdf. The font license is included. It has its own Poetcore look within the family: Instrument Serif italic titles and headings, parchment header strips, ink double rules, and line drawings of a quill, an inkwell, pressed flowers and an open book in patina blue and butter yellow, with Instrument Sans for the labels. Writing rows are at least 0.3 in (7.5 mm) apart on every size.
How to print: open the PDF and print at 100% ("Actual size"), not "Fit to page", so the lines keep their spacing. Everything sits at least 0.4 in (10 mm) inside the edge, the large areas are pale tints, and the fullest page covers about 3% of the sheet with ink, so it is light on a home inkjet.
