About this file
Twenty-four numbered cards to count down to Christmas, one for each day from December 1 to December 24, in a 9-page file. Each card has a short family activity, most of them free: write letters to Santa, make paper snowflakes, bake and share cookies, a cozy movie night, a walk to see the lights, a blanket fort, a pinecone bird feeder, salt-dough ornaments, breakfast for dinner, a carol for a grandparent, donating an outgrown toy, a kind note for a stranger and, on the 24th, cookies for Santa.
Page 1 lists all 24 activities at a glance, so you can see what needs planning (some need cookie dough, pinecones or salt dough). Pages 2–7 hold the cards, four to a sheet, each 3.5 × 4.75 in (89 × 121 mm), with the day number in large type, the activity, a small motif and a done box. Page 8 has four blank cards with lines for your own traditions, and page 9 is a matching card back with a fan arch and the word Advent, to print on the reverse of the card sheets.
Tuck one card in each pocket of an advent calendar, an envelope or a little box, or keep them in a jar and draw one each morning. The look is Neo Deco: fan arches, stepped frames and small motifs (a star, snowflakes, gifts, baubles, a candy cane, a bell, holly, a stocking, a tree, a Santa hat and a reindeer) in deep pine green, garnet and brass on white.
You get two print-ready PDFs of 9 pages each, one for US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) and one for A4 (210 × 297 mm), plus the font license. Set in Gloock for the numbers, Josefin Sans for the capitals and Figtree for the activities. Print on card stock; for matching backs, print page 9 on the reverse of each card sheet, flipping on the long edge.
How to print: open the PDF and print at 100% (“Actual size”), not “Fit to page,” so the cards keep their sizes. Use the Letter file for US Letter paper and the A4 file for A4. Everything sits at least 0.4 in (10 mm) inside the edge, large areas are pale tints, and the fullest page puts ink on about 5% of the sheet, so it is light on a home inkjet. Print only the pages you need, as many times as you like; cut along the solid lines.
