The Japanese year is divided into 24 solar terms (二十四節気, nijūshi sekki), each about fifteen days long and named for what is happening outside: Insects Awaken, Grain Rain, White Dew, Frost Descends. This set gives every term its own wallpaper, so your lock screen can turn with the season.

Each wallpaper is one seasonal motif inside a round window, on a soft washi-paper tone: red plum blossom (Start of Spring), rain on a pond under willow (Rain Water), fiddleheads and a ladybird (Insects Awaken), sunrise through spring haze (Spring Equinox), cherry blossom and a swallow (Clear and Bright), a peony in soft rain (Grain Rain), carp streamers (Start of Summer), ripening barley and a white butterfly (Lesser Ripening), fireflies over the reeds (Grain in Ear), irises (Summer Solstice), a lotus (Lesser Heat), fireworks over the river (Greater Heat), a glass wind chime (Start of Autumn), red dragonflies over the rice (End of Heat), dew on the grass (White Dew), red spider lilies (Autumn Equinox), chrysanthemums (Cold Dew), maple leaves turning (Frost Descends), sasanqua camellia (Start of Winter), falling ginkgo leaves (Lesser Snow), snow on the pine (Greater Snow), yuzu floating in the bath (Winter Solstice), a snow rabbit and nanten berries (Lesser Cold), butterbur buds in the snow (Greater Cold).

Below the window is the term's English name, its number and the date it usually begins (the date moves by a day or so between years). The English + 日本語 edition adds the Japanese name in kanji above it and its reading in romaji and kana below. Japanese is set in Shippori Mincho, English in Cormorant Garamond and Manrope.

What you get: one zip for each language and phone, each holding 24 PNG wallpapers numbered in order from Start of Spring. iPhone files are 1290 x 2796 px and Android files are 1440 x 3200 px. The top 28 % of every wallpaper is kept clear for the lock-screen clock and the bottom 12 % for the home bar and shortcuts.

How to use: unzip the set for your language and phone, save the wallpaper for the current term to your photos and set it as your lock screen. When the next term begins, move on to the next number.
