About this file
A techo-style planner for iPad, made for writing on with a stylus in PDF annotation apps such as GoodNotes and Notability. Every page is 180 x 240 mm (7.09 x 9.45 in), the 3:4 shape of a 1668 x 2224 iPad screen. It is made for the screen, not for printing.
As in a Japanese techo, each dated edition starts in December of the year before, so the 2027 edition runs from December 2026 to December 2027, and weeks start on Monday. There are no national holidays; every day has a small mark box instead. Each dated edition (509 to 510 pages) holds a contents page, a two-page year index with a row for every day, a 72 seasons page, 13 monthly calendars, a weekly page for every week (seven days on the left, a 3.7 mm grid on the right), a page for every day (a 24-hour timeline on a 3.7 mm grid), and for each month a kakeibo household budget page and a lifelog page (mood, sleep, water, four habits and a line of diary). Ten free pages close the book: six 3.7 mm grid, two dot grid and two lined.
The undated edition (485 pages) has twelve write-in months, each with an unnumbered month grid, five weekly pages, 31 day pages, a kakeibo page and a lifelog page, so you can begin in any month of any year.
The 72 seasons page lists the 24 solar terms and the three short seasons inside each, with their dates for that year found from the sun's position for Japan time (the undated edition gives their usual dates). In the dated editions the solar terms are also marked on the month, week and day pages, and each day page names the season it falls in.
Getting around: tabs down the right side open the year index, each month, the logs and the free pages. Every date opens its day page, week buttons open the week, the buttons at the top lead back up and arrows step to the previous or next page. Each file has 10,545 to 15,289 links, and every one has been checked to open the page it names.
Includes 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030 editions and an undated edition, each in English and in English with Japanese (10 PDFs). The Japanese edition keeps every English label and sets the Japanese beside it, smaller: weekdays (月 火 水), months with their traditional names (弥生), section names (メモ, 家計簿) and the names of the seasons.
The look is wa-modern: indigo-sumi ink on a warm paper white, pale grids, Saturdays in indigo and Sundays in red, a few traditional colours used sparingly, and seasonal sprigs of plum, cherry, hydrangea and ginkgo. Set in Figtree, with Noto Sans JP for the Japanese. You also get a one-page how-to-use guide and the font licence. Save the PDF to your iPad, import it into your annotation app, and tap the links in viewing mode or with a finger.
