Make someone a magazine for their birthday: a friend, a partner, someone in the family, or the person you are a fan of. It is laid out like a Japanese magazine, with a big masthead, cover lines, section titles and page numbers, and every page is yours to fill in with photos, answers and messages.

The twelve pages: a cover with the masthead, a photo frame, cover lines and a starring line; contents with an editor's note; a profile (name, birthday, nickname, favourite colour and food, hobby, charm point, motto); a two-page special interview with eight questions and a pull quote; a two-page spread of birthday wishes; a year in photos with four frames; a top 10; a quiz with five multiple-choice questions and the answers upside down; a best-shot page; and a back cover with a photo, balloons, a cake, and edited-by and issue-date lines.

In the English with Japanese edition the birthday-wishes spread is ruled for vertical writing (tategaki), with its heading set vertically; the English edition has six message cards, each with a from line.

How it prints: each PDF has six pages, the two sides of three sheets, and each sheet carries two magazine pages. Print double-sided with "flip on short edge", stack the sheets in order (sheet 1 on the outside), fold them in half together and staple on the fold. The finished magazine is A5 (148 x 210 mm) from A4 paper, or 5.5 x 8.5 in from US Letter. Each sheet is marked in its centre margin.

You get four PDFs, English and English with Japanese alongside each label (set smaller), each for A4 (210 x 297 mm) and US Letter (8.5 x 11 in), plus the font licence. Undated. Set in Baloo 2 and Nunito, with M PLUS Rounded 1c for the Japanese.

Print at 100% ("Actual size"); every sheet edge keeps a margin of at least 10 mm. A heavier paper of 100 to 120 gsm folds cleanly and stops photos showing through.
